VALUABLE ART

BUYING TIPS

AT AN EXHIBITION

BUYING TIP #1

If you are looking for an artwork for a specific spot, tape out the ideal size you would like on the wall , where you want an artwork to be.  It’s the best way to get a sense for the size you want.

BUYING TIP #2

Measure, measure, measure!  Know how big AND how small the painting can be for your ideal spot.  Know your range.  Once you know that, you can be prepared to play within that range, within a few inches, with confidence.

BUYING TIP #3

Take a picture on your phone of the spot you want art to go!  Artists can often help give you an ideal size when they see the spot visually.

BUYING TIP #4

If the art is to go over a couch or table or hutch or some piece of furniture, measure the size of the furniture.  This will help you and the artist know immediately if the artwork will work.

BUYING TIP #5

If you love an artwork but the size won’t work, don’t despair!  Many artists are happy to do a commission in the size you want.  Just ask.  That’s why we are here!   (And yes I do!  Check out my FAQ page for more information.)

BUYING TIP #6

If you are going to an art show/exhibition, if you like an artwork on an artist's website, email them before the show to make sure they bring it for you to see.  We can't bring everything we may have!

Interior Design Toronto Interview

I was honoured to be interviewed recently by Interior Design Toronto on how to go about getting a commissioned artwork.  Here is a link to the article.  I hope you find it helpful!
